Deus Ex Machina Motorcycle Exoskeleton: A Segway On Steroids

By Jeremy Waller | May 26, 2008

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to travel at 75mph strapped to the hood of your car?

Now you can with the Yahama branded Dues Ex Machina “Motorcycle.” Inspired by Biomechatronics, Art Center College of Design student Jake Loniak has designed an electric vertically parking motorcycle controlled by 36 pneumatic muscles with 2 linear actuators. This concept vehicle is “worn” as an exoskeleton, battery powered and goes 0-60mph in 3 seconds.

Yea, the design looks real great until your crotch meets a bird at 70mph.

That’s crazy. Funny that I should read this after seeing a Segway for the first time in this city. Great find!
