Over the past two weeks I’ve been from Oklahoma City to Chicago to Oklahoma City to Houston to Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach to Miami to Chicago and finally back home to Oklahoma City. Normally those are cool cities to visit. Except I seem to suck at travel. Every flight I that I had to take was delayed. I got stuck on the runway for 2 hours in Oklahoma City because of a weather delay in Houston. Then once in Houston, our connecting flight was delayed another 2 hours.
The Fun Begins…
Turns out the guy I was traveling with ended up on a flight to West Palm Beach while I was shot off to Ft. Lauderdale. Eh, no big deal We’ll rent cars and meet in the middle. We both landed, I got my car, a luxurious Dodge Caliber (pictured to the left,) and headed to the Hilton in Boca Raton. I get checked in, find my room and as soon as I set my suitcase on my bed, my phone rings. Well what do you know, my buddy can’t get a car. So I go back out to the car (it’s 2:30 am by this time) drive 30 minutes to West Palm Beach, pick him up and drive 30 minutes back to the hotel. All said and done, I make it to bed at 4:00am.

Then Thursday night comes along I get in bed around midnight planning to get up at 7:00 and catch my flight at the West Palm airport, 5 minutes away, and be home by early afternoon. But, oh no, it’s never that easy. I got a call from American Airlines at 2:00am telling me that my flight has been delayed 2 1/2 hours and I won’t be able to make my connecting flight in Dallas. It also so happens that since this is Labor Day weekend, every other stinkin flight is full. So, I get this great idea to try and catch a plane in Miami, 1 1/2 hours away (I am a genius!). I book the flight, change the rental car drop off location and go back to bed.
Miami wasn’t so hot after all…
As luck would have it, there were 4 accidents on the highway between West Palm and Miami and I happened to get to the airport just late enough to miss that flight (Alright maybe I wasn’t so smart trying to book in Miami…) Lucky me is now back on the phone with the lovely booking agents at American Airlines to find another flight. Finally, I end up getting a flight from Miami to Chicago to Oklahoma City (a little out of the way ya think?)
Needless to say I’m exhausted. I’d tell you all the great things about the trip, but I don’t want to spoil my rant. After I recover I’ll update you on the more positive points
